Directories.ch- Change listing- Block advertising- YES OR NO?

So I am changing my directory listing information. The "change listing" online form has a text field called-

Block advertising (asterisk *) YES OR NO

Will selecting YES block my entry from being public OR is it to opt out of some telemarketer friendly list?

I phoned the helpline but no one picked the phone I will try again tomorrow morning.

Thanks for any help.

That star won't make your request hidden. It's just a polite request to telemarketers not to call you. But they still will.

Every time I get a call I demand to know where they got their number and inform them that my listing is marked as do not call. When I start to ask what the name of their company is, who their supervisor is, etc the poor telemarketer gets flustered and hangs up on me.

So go for the star, but don't think it will actually do anything.

Ok all done. I was just worried that maybe it would hide my whole entry as that would have defeated the whole purpose of the edit :-)
Thanks for the confirmation Mark.

Yeah the suckers will still call! I had a mesage on my phone recently that almost gave me a heart attack. It started with really loud intro music :-)

You have to ask to enter the black list, not the green or red, whatever the other two are called.

It works, and if not, block your phone for a month, then unblock it and it will work. By blocking I mean calling *99# which means people with secret numbers or VOIP based calls such as telemarketeer calls cannot reach you.

Problem with blocking private numbers is that legit international calls also tend to get caught up in the net.

Or anyone who works for a bank, which is like half the country. Seems to be ok until you realise half your mates work for banks.

I am interested in hearing about whatever this list is - never heard of it. If you have any more information I'd be interested.

The black list? You call them up (phone nr listed on their site somewhere) and ask to be transferred to it, they send you a letter to sign, you send it back, you are then removed from www.directories.ch. It means no one, not even in emergencies will be able to get your number using their database. The problem is, once the database has been sold, that is it, too late.

I know that http://tel.search.ch/index.en.html have probably bought the national database, as we are still listed in theirs, so they must have gotten the data of Swisscom or whoever stores these things...

And how many francs does it cost to move to the dark side?

So to advertise your info in CH there is-

a) tel.search.ch (free)
b) directories.ch/white pages (free)
c) directories.ch/yellow pages (I can't work out if basic listing for yellow pages is free or not?

Any other places in CH where I could get listed for free?

I've been ex-directory for a long time. If you're in the directory, the problem is you're in a version of twixtel - on CD. Badda-bing.....

Also note that http://tel.search.ch still lag behind the Swisscom site.
