Swiss Airlines - Positive Experience

Hi,

As there is not a commendations corner on this forum, I guess this post belongs here.

We flew with Swiss from Basel to Manchester a few weeks back with our little boy and got really well treated by the staff on the flight. The steward brought our wee one lots of toys and helped keep him entertained for the two hours. Also, as there was a last minute cancellation we got a 3-er seat to ourselves so he did not have to sit on our laps.

Flying Swiss was not so expensive compared to EasyJet or one of the so-called "budget" airlines.

Also the staff at Manchester Airport on our arrival (and return flight) were courteous and helpful at all times - particularly the passport control and air security people.

Before Christmas my parents had booked the cheapo economy on Swiss to visit us in Basel. The week before the flight my dad was taken ill and was forbidden to fly by his doctors. My sister tried to get a refund, however Swiss acted entirely within the Ts+Cs of the ticket - so no dice. In the end they claimed on their travel insurance - but it would have been nice to report a positive here too. I guess the above treatment kind of made up for it.

Cheers,
Nick

And in a truly astonishing recommendation can I actually say that the easyJet (yes, easyJet) flight from Geneva to Stanstead has rarely been totally packed, has been on time and has had lovely cabin crew whenever I've taken it. Cheap as chips as well.

Re: Swiss Airlines - Positive Experience

I fly Swiss every other week and they are in my experience by far the best airline in general. Sure, they have their bad days to but on average their service level is top and much better than the other airlines I fly with.

On the route I fly they are also always the cheapest one.

Regarding cancellations I can strongly recommend to get a yearly travel insurance if you fly more than once or twice a year. Then you are always covered if you get sick and don't have to think about getting an insurance every time you fly. They come at around 300 CHF per year for the family I think.

Good suggestion. However make sure there is no lockout for pre-existing medical conditions.

Nick

Cheap as chips as well.
Assuming your chips are made of potatoes which were individually rolled on the inner-thigh of a Wigan lass.

Cheers,
Nick
