Dunno where to write this,so if its in the wrong section sorry.I love observing and taking pictures of aircraft.Well ,do you know any good places to sit and watch the planes taking off and landing in kloten? Some open areas with nice views would be appreciated.Maybe some open fields around the airport.I saw some places around the airport but I dont wanna get arrested,so if u guys know any good places lemme know :P
Plenty of places. There are even mini restaurants next to the runway fence. You can eat/drink and watch the planes all day. There are some benches near the airport fence as well where you can sit alone away from train/plane spotters :-)
I can't really explain how to get to them.
There is even a runway that is intersected by a fenced public road...you can see the underbelly of incoming planes literally seconds before they land. It's an amazing sight. Bloody loud as well. You basically see all these planes lining up to land. Them come towards you and it feels like they are going to land on your head. You will love it man!
Yes , you can get very close to planes. We lived in Kloten for just over a year and we used to take the children there. You can cycle or walk the whole perimeter of the airport. It seems to be some kind of nature reserve as well around much of the airport . Which means there is a real juxtaposition , planes landing or taking off one side of the fence and frogs jumping in ponds the other side. In the Summer it gets really busy but at the moment I should think it would be a good time to go. We really used to like going there.
Sry for bumping but how can i go there?I think i have to from glattbrugg right?Or is there any other way?I have checked it from google earth and there are very nice places at the opposite of the terminal, lets say, behind runway 16.
If you are driving you can go to Kloten then towards Bulach and you will see places where you can park at the side of the road. You can also go from the Glattbrug side. When we lived in Kloten we just cycled there and then just cycled all around the perimeter. You soon get to know it.
