Thanks heaps for that I will have a look. But would really like to know if anyone has actually physically been to one and what their experience was like.

If someone who as a tattoo doesn`t want it anymore then they can always have it lasered off
OP the tattoo artist in St.Gallen are fantastic, but there is a waiting list to get your tattoos done last time i checked they where fully booked for about 3 months (so they must be good )

Mine didnt hurt much, its also important the understand the pain is not constant, its a few seconds of pain (which is not so bad in my opinion) and then a few not.

Charde and all
Hello from a new member!
I;m not sure if you all realise but you actually live in a very privileged country for tattoos!! I am saving up thousands of dollars and planning 2 years in advance to come to CH to get tattooed. More fun than buying a house.
Charde: Right in Zurich you have the amazing Sabine Gaffron who I am planning to see in 2010. She also guestworks at Corazon Tattoo in Luzern. Jacqueline Spoerle tattoos there and does great blackwork. Of course you have Mick of Zurich and the Leu Family in Lausanne. No reason to get a bad tattoo in CH!!
I meant to say more than anything was: these artists I mentioned are some of the best and most respected/imitated/admired in the world.

Just curious to what you are planning on having done.
As for having a house, or tattoos i vote for the house |

Yes, I also heard this before. I have been meaning to get in touch with Mich for a while now.
But its usuful to note that getting inked by someone with such a good worldwide reputation comes at a price as I beleive they charge alot more than your local back alley tatoo artist and piercers, they can however do the job much faster than your average joe and with much better quality.

Hi Sutter
well firstly, I need a couple of thousand just to get myself from Aus to Europe! And as you all know Switzerland isn't a cheap country to visit or spend time in so there's another chunk of cash to spend on transport, accommodation, food etc.
But for the work, I am budgeting about $6000-$12000 for the cost of tattooing. I am estimating it will be over 2 trips of about 2-3 weeks each time to get my whole front torso done. And then one day I will probably return for my back etc! I'm not sure what these artists charge but I imagine anything btwn CHF 200-250/hour. I'll find out when I get there
As for the house, I already have that, and it's much less satisfying than a great tattoo.

In regards to laser removal of tattoos, be advised that certain colors are not easily removed with lasers. I believe the red and yellow inks do not react as expected with the laser's wavelength. I suggest you inform yourself about this, beyond asking the tattoo artist, in case you later change your mind about the tattoo.

How is the laser removal of tattoos relevant to someone asking about a good tattoo artist? That's like recommending a family lawyer who can do a good divorce settlement, when someone's asking about how to plan a wedding. I'm sure you mean well, but think about the moral reasoning that's informing your "advice".

I paid over 1000frcs for my tiger tattoo it took them around 3 hours to do. A friend of mine had a small tattoo done last year it took about 20mins and cost her around 120frcs. Before you come over i would ring them first and make sure you can get an appointment for the amount of time you need and ask them how much it would cost
When you have had it done i would love to see some pictures |
