Re: Guitar teacher

What style ? Classical, pop, rock or Piedmont-two-step-ragtime ?
The jazz conservatory in Zürich do classes I think, even at beginner level.

I don't teach but I can give you some (non-classical) guitar advice if you have any questions, I'm happy to help.

Re: Guitar teacher

I usually fly over every week with just my laptop case as hand luggage. But I'd like to bring my guitar as well (to leave here, rather than cart home every weekend).

Sorry to go off on a slightly different subject, but does anyone know how easy it is/what cost it is to bring a guitar over on Swiss?

I did it for nothing in hold. Make sure you have a hard case if checking, they often let guitars on as hand luggage, but best check.

Re: Guitar teacher

About forty quid up. The moulded plastic ones are pretty good, but not very stylish. If its a one-time trip, then you probably don't need an ATA certified flight case...

I would get some insurance if its valuable too.

Thanks again Dave.

My time in Zurich and Switzerland looks unlikely to last longer than a couple of more months unfortunately so I reckon I'll pass on buying the case.

Actually the case is probably worth more than the guitar in question. Having an expensive one would have been a foolish endeavour on my part, as no guitar would have escaped unscathed from my attempts to master the F chord

Re: Guitar teacher

You will soon get GAS (guitar acquisition syndrome) and realise the need for a good guitar and a lake guitar. I have small Ovation as my lake guitar and can be seen annoying the locals down by the pump house on a sunny weekend with my choice of what many describe as plinky-plonky music. So if you're passing, say hello.

Re: Guitar teacher

For those looking for a teacher around Zurich, try http://www.guitar-school.ch/e_index.php I had my first lesson there last night, nice studio, easy to get to and Tsering seems to be a nice guy.

I turned up a little early so I could watch and listen to the end of the lesson before me and have now signed up for 10 lessons. Will see how it goes after that but I have a good feeling that I've found a long term teacher.

Oh and if you do go, it would be nice if you mentioned that you heard of him through Adrian.

Re: Guitar teacher

Good afternoon,

My name is Ignacio. I finished my music studies in 2003 and I have been teaching guitar at all levels for 7 years. I live in Montreux and it would be fine for me to drive to Clarens to give the lesson. If you would like to arrange a meeting or know more about myself and my background, please feel free to contact me: 0767667301

I wish you a nice evening,

Best regards,

Ignacio Fernandez
