Used Cow bells?

Do you know where I could buy a cowbell (with belt) that was actually used by a cow, and not the ones made as souvenirs?

Re: Antique Cowbell... the real stuff

Flea market at Helvetiaplatz (Saturdays). I've seen some authentic Swiss cow bells there.

Used Cow bells?

Hi EF'ers!

I hope I am posting this question at the correct place, pardon me if I am not.

A very nice neighbour of ours will be leaving the country after almost 4 years here in Kaiseraugst. And its her wish to purchase a used cow bells for keepsake to bring back home, I have no idea how this can be done? If any one has any info/contact to a farm that I can obtain one for her as a farewell gift that will be nice.

Thanks a bunch

Re: Used Cow bells?

This one is for sale in Canton Neuchâtel. If you like it, you would need someone French speaking to call for you.

Good luck in any event.

Re: Used Cow bells?

A lot of bric a brac antique shops have old ones so it would be worth checking with them if you don't want brand new ones. One suggestion - cow bells can be pretty big. Goat bells are more manageable.

Don't think so small, show your neighbor true affection and throw in the whole cow to boot....

Cows - now featuring in a field near you.

Re: Used Cow bells?

You can find cowbells relatively frequently on ebay.ch; try searching either under 'Kuhglocke' or 'Treichel'.

The bigger they are the heavier they are, i was in a restaurant a few years ago, and they had big ones inside as decorations, i tried to lift 1 up, and it nearly broke my back (glad i am not a cow having to wear 1, did you know the prettier the cow the bigger the bell they have to wear) If you are planning on taking a cow bell on a plane, it could be very expensive.

Careful with bells in restaurants. If you ring, you have to pay a big round.

They do this in the carnival, walking around the streets, it always amazes me how they can carry them for so long, and the noise is very loud, i think they must be death.
