Trekking Gear and Food

Hiya,

For a 10-day hike, I was wondering if some of you would know of good shops (good selection, not too steep in price) in/around Zurich (or
alternatively online) to get

- food for trekking tours (e.g. dried vegies, powder milk,
ready made dinner dishes, ready made porridge, etc etc ...)

- trekking kitchen stuff (pot set, cooker)

- a light weight tunnelt tent

It would be really cool to get some tips! Tx a lot in advance.

I have got tents from here. Don't let the name put you off.

They're not local but they do ship abroad and they do other stuff apart from tents.

I don't think you can beat some of the light-weight vango tents for value and durability.

Hajk next to the main station has all equipment except camping food. Spatz has everything. As for prices, you know there's no upper end to the scale when it comes to camping!

Re: Trekking Gear and Food

You can find milk powder in your most medium-size grocery stores, often in the section with the coffee.

Bächli in Neu Oerlikon have everything and have very knowledgeable staff but they can be expensive sometimes. http://www.baechli-bergsport.ch/

Also Transa down Josefstrasse has everything, this is my favorite place I think and I find the prices a bit more reasonable. http://www.transa.ch/

Happy hiking.
