Re: Spending the afternoon in Rapperswil

Walk across the Seedamm (zoom out to see the complete route) to Pfaffikon SZ - it takes about an hour (and it's only a five minute train journey back again afterwards), starts with a wooden bridge with gorgeous views of the Obersee and mountains, that follows the route of an ancient pilgrims' way (the Jakobsweg - you can carry on to Santiago de Compostela, if you like!), then it goes through an interesting little playground/picnic area with an archimedes screw to play with, goes across the island of Hurden (there's a quaint little chapel that's worth a visit there), and ends in the Canton Congo. Or you can get the train to Pfaffikon SZ and walk towards civilisation, if you prefer.

On a day like today, it's a very pleasant walk.

Attractions in Rappi itself:

There's a Polish museum at the castle, if French waxing is your thing;

There's the Knie Kinderzoo, if elephants and camels are your thing;

There's a very nice Spanish restaurant (La Finca), if tapas is your thing;

There are some lovely boat trips back to Zurich, if the sailor's life is your thing;

There is a very nice church at the top of the citadel, if ornamentation is your thing;

There is an Indian shop at the back of the station, if PG Tips is your thing;

There are lots of winding lanes with shops full of tat, if browsing is your thing.

Have fun - it's a lovely town to visit!

There's a fantastic little restaurant just as you get off the boat called La Scala. They do lovely set lunches and you can watch the world go by.

Second Hand Store 'Gwand aus Zweiter Hand' may be interesting

Seestrasse 9.

There's a nice woman who speaks English who runs it. She always offers me a Prosecco whenever I've been, but then, I have that effect on many
