| | | George Gina & Lucy Purses/Handbags
Hey all,
Has anyone heard of George Gina & Lucy purses/handbags? Are these like big in Germany or something? I always pass by this one store in Baden which has a whole bunch of GG&L purses, and Im soooooo tempted to get one
However, Im sure they must have quite an extensive variety, do you know if there is probably a store in Zurich that would have more variety, or can you buy them online?

And too many people walking around with them. I prefer not to follow the crowd too much.
However, I don't think they're losing any sleep over not having me as a customer, as I'm sure their demographic is much much younger than me. |

I think Im going to get my cousin one too, I think she'd like it a lot.

Perhaps no one cares, but I thought I would follow up this post. Im a bit obsessed with GG&L purses. So in short, I thought I would give my 2 rappens worth in regards to where to find them (Zurich/Baden-area only):
- Baden Ledergerber Mode: Sometimes has a good selection, other times not.
- Zurich Feldpausch: The best selection that I have seen in Zurich.
- Globus: Only a few purses and not much variety at all.
- Jelmoli: Also only a few purses, and the selection is slightly better than Globus.
- Allsports Shop: Okay, this one is not in the Zurich area, its actually in Waldshut (DE), but if you don't want to travel THAT far, their collection beats all of the above. And the prices are also better in Euros
In addition, the best online shop in Switzerland that Ive found for GG&L purses is:
- Stromberg.ch www.stromberg.ch/ : They also have good but not great variety but sometimes you can't find the purse in the colour your looking for.
Have yet to actually go to Germany (i.e. somewhere like Berlin or Dusseldorf) for proper purse hunting, but I will soon.
If anyone has any additional shops to add to this list, please do so!!!
Thanks a lot |

They were popular for eight minutes a few years ago, which prolly explains why they're not so common now...

But anyways, their canvas bags/functional bags are kind of boring looking. But their other collections are much nicer Certainly when I go back to Canada, everyone asks me where I got this-and-that purse |

I like them cause there a little bit original looking. Anyways, the cost can vary between 150 to 300 CHF (depending on size and fabrics/leather). Although if you can go to Germany, it would be a little bit more cheaper.
Check out Stromberg.ch for an online listing of prices for some of their purses.

But why do they have to put their name on it so prominently? I find large, visible branding terribly crass and not really appropriate outside a sporting environment. That's the first thing I noticed about the brand, everyone running around with these canvas bags with random people's names on them. Usually young ladies of the gel fingernail and sunbed persuasion...

I mean look at Louis Vuitton, or Prada handbags, they too have labelling. Actually, all famous or high end purse makers do have some form of labelling. Whether its big or small, at the end of the day, the reason people buy this-or-that handbag has a little bit to do with the label as well. I mean, usually, I buy something because I like the look of it. But there is a small part of me that buys it because of the label too. I think this applies for most people as well.
And Im not of the gel fingernail persuasion... you shouldn't stereotype! |

It's an internet forum, of course I stereotype
Maybe it was just a Zurich thing, but they all had this canvas things in muted colours with the main decoration being the brand name. This is a bit different from, e.g., the LV damier pattern that is also very recognisable, but it's a bit more discreet. And there are plenty of designer bags where you don't see what it is right away for any other reason that you just know that model of bag, e.g. pretty much anything by Hermès.
To be honest, I prefer to get handmade stuff from place like Etsy.com, there are some absolutely stunning bags there. But enough of the OT. |

And thanks for the link to Etsy.com - it looks interesting | |
