Hair dresser in or near Zurich or Zug

Hello, I know the topic of hair dressers has been covered a few times, but I have a specific question - can anyone recommend an English-speaking stylist in or near Zurich or Zug who is good with curly hair? I'm in desperate need of a trim! Thanks a million!

Re: Hair dresser in or near Zurich or Zug

I definitely would be appreciative if anyone has a good answer for this question. Curly hair is just so much harder to cut, and finding someone who has a good grasp on the strangeness involved is definitely worth the price. Nothing is more embarrassing than looking like a poodle after a bad hair cut.

Re: Hair dresser in or near Zurich or Zug

Hi folks, I'm a guy with short, straight hair, so take this with a grain of salt!

I know that several curly-maned women of my acquaintance go to the Aveda salon in Basel and are very happy with it. There's one in Zurich, too -- Eddine Belaid. Bound to be expensive but probably (I have no experience of it) very good with curly hair.

Aveda has its own range of products for curly hair ("be curly") and its hairdressers are graded by experience (price goes up with the grade, of course!).

Caveat emptor and all that. Good luck!

Re: Hair dresser in or near Zurich or Zug

Thanks, 22 Yards! I did a google search and came up with what appears to be his price list:
http://aveda-schweiz.ch/kontakt_file...liste_08_1.pdf

Definitely steep, but most likely very worth it as he seems to be a bit of an "It" stylist.

Re: Hair dresser in or near Zurich or Zug

For Curls I can definitely recommend Marco from Zülle Coiffeurs Basel. He deals very well with curly hair and is a great person. He might like to cut a bit too much off (like all the hairdressers in the world) but just tell him how much to cut and you will be fine.

Its not cheap but definitely cheaper than Aveda.

As for the language: I think he speaks Spanish and German but whatever country you live in, you should be able to say things like cut or blow dry in the countrys language, everything else is obnoxious...

Sorry to groan at you SnowyWorld! I actually agree with you. I just thought it was an unecessary swipe at language skills

And when it comes to hair you really dont want language barriers!

I can recommend Aveda in Basel I go regularly so can only guess the ZH one is as good! I have just moved to ZH so will be checking it out soon myself!

Thea Colson is a genius. She speaks English, Italian, German, and Swiss. She can fix bad hair cuts or copy a photo. Trained in London. I love her!

It would be great if we could keep this thread on topic; ie, Basel in the Basel thread, uniquely Zurich tips in this thread.

Thank you

Re: Hair dresser in or near Zurich or Zug

So did anyone find a good hairdresser for curls in Zürich? Because I am in serious need of a trim, but apprehensive to dip my toe in with a new hairdresser - poodle problems have left some serious scars...

Re: Hair dresser in or near Zurich or Zug

I went to Thea a little while ago, she is super nice and a good hairdresser as well. She cut off a fair bit more than I was expecting, and I was a bit worried it would be too drastic, but the cut was beautiful when she'd finished. It lasted really well for the first 5-6 weeks, it has only gone a little bit scruffy because I haven't got round to getting it trimmed yet, which is entirely my fault. It cost 110F for me for long hair, seems to be the going rate in central Zürich for a good cut. I would recommend Thea, she definitely knows what to do with curls

Re: Hair dresser in or near Zurich or Zug

Thea Colson gave me the best cut i've ever had - and i've had plenty of good and expensive cuts. I usually straighten my hair half the time but since I got my hair cut by her it looks so good curly I just don't want to straighten it. There are good cuts, and then there are fabulous cuts. So glad to have found a great hairdresser in Zürich!

Re: Hair dresser in or near Zurich or Zug

You could try TONI&GUY near Central. Leonhardstrasse 4, Zurich, Switzerland, CH-8001. Tel: +41 44 251 7970. The senior stylist there (sorry cannnot remember her name) has trained from and worked in one of the Toni & Guys in London. Very expensive though!

Wow - a recommendation for curly hair. At long last! But how much does she cost? Thanks,

Cut Erdem in Zug- he's great. He has super curly hair himself so he 'gets' it when it comes to how much to cut off...etc...

Re: Hair dresser in or near Zurich or Zug

I actually bought a Groupon for Duyar in Zurich (near Paradeplatz) and it was the best haircut I think I ever had..was a bit skeptical since it was 49CHF instead of their regular price of 155CHF and they didn't stick me with the newbie. Great place, would recommend it.
