Can I get the post office to forward my mail for me..?

Hi,
I heard that it's possible to have my mail forwarded to a new address for up to 2 years for free..
What I would like to know is if there is a web page where I can do this or whether they require you to go to a post-office in person to do it..

Any ideas?

Hayley

Indeed it is possible to have your mail forwarded to your new address.... I did it a couple of times and it worked just fine. However, it is not for free....

Visit the Swiss Post web site for more info:
http://www.post.ch/fr/index_pm/pm_pr...zugservice.htm
(only available in FR, IT, DE).

All you have to do is go to the Post, show your ID, fill some papers and they do it on the fly. You can also do it online

Hope this helps!

Do you mean from Switzerland out? Or forwardec into Switzerland?

From the UK they forward for up to 2 years and for a family with two surnames it costs about GBP140 per year. You hve to renew it after a year. Generally things arrive within the week.

From Switzerland I don't know the procedure but out post office are generally very helpful and have held mail whilst we are on holiday etc so I am sure if you ask they can arrange it for you.

Possibily some kind of offer Aurora?

In my days (I was a post office clerk), you had the pay a small sum to have it forwarded and kept at the sorting office when on holiday.

Notice that for mail going abroad, you had to pay the difference in postage so that can add up if you recieve lots of large letters and small parcel.

there are IIRC two services - one where they notify the sender and one where they don't

edit: actually the service was free about 5 years ago and is now priced at 15/30 francs depending on whether they notify the sender. Interesting it's cheaper to notify the sender than to not.

Those prices are DOMESTIC btw.
