so I need to get a Canon DSLR 500D and as usual from the information I got from EF, digitec seems to offer the best price/service. Has anyone experience of picking up camera from their place in Zurich? I don't have a credit card, is it possible to pay with bank or could I maybe just go straight to their shop and pay there? (well, to avoid those possible online payment and shipping problem...) But I just wish to buy with the price online and collect it personally on a Saturday...is it possible? Thanks for your info or maybe suggestion if you know a better alternative than digitec for Canon 500D camera.

You order online, choose "pick up in Zurich", get a notification when it is ready for pick up and you can pay with bank card or cash on the spot.

Sure, I have done that. I just ordered online and then specified pickup as the delivery method. Then I just paid with a bank maestro card when they handed me the item. Simple really.

As far as I could see (for you), Tagespreis.ch are offering the camera you want, body only for 783 Sfr. which is a few franks lower than digitech. And with the 18-200 kit lens the lowest offer is from ehawk.ch (1306 Sfr.)

you can go to their showroom in zurich and buy on the spot, do check the stock levels before. Excellent service, highly recommended. Tram 4 i think

As a beginner I reckon I will just stick to kit lens first. And the best price I could find in Zurich is with digitec. I think I will just go without reservation and then pay on spot. I hope it would be ok...thanks everyone for the kind advice.

Bought the same camera last week....very happy with it.
I got the 18-200mm lense as well, best deal I could find was at digitec.
I also picked up an 8GB mem card whilst I was there.
