Typically Swiss christmas Cards

Hi,

Does anyone have any ideas where I may be able to find christmas cards with a typically swiss picture - something a bit cheesy - a cow with bell in the snow or a swiss snowy mountain scene etc - it will be our first xmas living here, and I wanted to be a bit cheesy with the cards I send back to the UK!

I've tried local deparment stores, supermarkets, book shops and craft shops with zero success - found very few cards, and zero swiss themed ones.

Any ideas greatly appreciated....

Thanks

Perhaps you should take a few pics yourself and have them made into cards. Certainly would cost a whole lot less!

Re: Typically Swiss christmas Cards

So if you don't go the make your own route, I was looking at cards yesterday to help a US friend buy some. Jelmoli has some nice ones but they are pricey - Migros City in Zurich on Loewenstrasse has a great selection of less pricey ones. If you want to push the boat out then Zurich has a posh house knick knack/stationary shop sort of opposite Bally on Bahnhofstrasse - downstairs is the pen, stationary and card area and they have super nice but expensive cards.

Thanks Vallers - Lausanne seems far less well equipped,no joy in Migros, and no Jelmoli as far as I'm aware(?) :-( Looked at their websites, and I don't think it's just a lack of German letting me down.

Oldhand - I'll get out with my camera next weekend, great idea

Thanks

Re: Typically Swiss christmas Cards

The Manor department store in Morges has a reasonable range, you may find something there. Last year was our first Christmas and we wanted much the same thing - can't recall if there were Swiss chalets and stuff, but definitely 'Happy Christmas' and so on in French, which the rellies liked as they could pop the card on the mantlepiece and do the whole: 'That one? Oh, it's from my son, he's got a job in Switzerland, whole family's moved out there, grandchildren are practically bilingual now, etc etc, swank swank').

Cards don't seem the big thing over here that they are in the UK, much to my relief - I always felt slightly stupid doing the school-gate handing over routine, where you give a card to someone you see every day anyway, and opted out of it in recent times. To me, cards are a way of keeping in touch with old friends, writing a personal message, sending a sheet of photos of the kids, etc, not just writing 'To Bob and Kim, from Mary and David', handing it over, then waiting expectantly for your one in return.
