For those of you who have been living in zurich, I wish to arrange a birthday party and I have no idea where to go. I am looking for the perfect birthday place where we can eat, drink etc. a club a restaurant or somewhere else? any ideas for the perfect birtday night in zurich?

what's your budget - at least let us know if you're more Baur au Lac or more Gemeinschaftszentrum (a type of community center that can be rented out inexpensively).

First thing that pops to mind is a friend's 40th at Blumenhalle (http://www.blumenhalle.ch), close to Escher Wyss. It was beautiful - good food, great music (she may have organized the DJ herself because she is quite finicky), and a really nice place to have a party, but...it will have cost a mint.

You'll have to provide a bit more information.
Do you want one place in which you can drink and eat and go clubbing?
Or a selection of places?
Can it be anywhere in Zurich?
Do you have a specific sort of food in mind?
... a specific sort of clubbing? Cheesy 80's music? Industrial goth? Leather?
Do you have a budget, eg no more than chf 30 per main/beer?

not interested in clubbing.. need somewhere where we can enjoy good food, a bit of music and energetic atmosphere.. it will be a weekday and i dont plan to do clubbing.. money is no issue but im definitely not Baur au Lac type of guy. It has to be cool, fun and young.. thanks!!

just to bump up this thread since there wasn't much discussion going on.

Any suggesstion for a birthday party for someone in the 20s? The attendees will range from 20s to 30s. I would also be interested in knowing a rough figure as to how much it would cost. I know this could vary a lot, but would someone be able to tell me what I would expect to pay for let's say, 1. a private room in a bar with food and drinks for the group, and 2. a private room where we can also have our own DJ? Let's assume a group of about 30 people for now. Are we talking about ~1,000s, ~2,000s or ~500s francs?
