[Basel] Where to buy makeup?

Does anyone have advice on where to buy makeup besides Migros? They don't have a very wide selection. I am not looking for super high end makeup that is 50+CHF for a face powder but just the normal cover girl, revlon type brands.

You might not typically gt the same brands as from home but migros and coop for cheaper brands would be an obvious thought? Manor, Jelmoli for higher end brands

The Manor in Basel has a lot of mid-range makeup like Nivea, L'Oréal and Maybeline. Also, Douglas (Freiestrasse) has an excellent selection of makeup for most price ranges, with my personal favourite: a MAC counter!

A lot of stuff in Müller also. Müller is both in Klein Basel (under Aldi) and close where I live to.

They also do really great after-Christmas sales! Last year I got a perfume set (Armani She) for about 30 chuffs!

Re: Where to buy makeup?

I buy most of my cosmetics from www.strawberrynet.com. The prices are very good and they have a lot of special discounts all the time. Plus that shipping is free, you get extra 5% discount if you order 3 or more items and extra 10% after a certain number of orders. Usually you can get Chanel for the same price as you would pay for Maybelline here

The only thing is that you cannot try before, but if you already know what you want, it's an excellent place.

Oh, and yes Swiss customs will want their share, but if you send the documents back to Strawberry, they usually compensate the customs fees as well.

Re: [Basel] Where to buy makeup?

City Coop, and Müller are the two places I've been... both have pretty decent selection from what I recall.

I'm having a hard time finding base for my complexion though, some are too drying and the color isn't quite right, they're too "yellow" instead of pink undertones.

Ah well, I've switched to simply using moisturizer these days anyhow, maybe I'll get a tinted one as it comes closer to summer time.

Re: [Basel] Where to buy makeup?

Any of the bigger Coop's will have a pretty good selection of mid-range makeup..or even Phauen. Either are great because you can use your Coop card..and you'll get loads of points on makeup which is always nice because you can use the points for even more makeup

Barryinc ( an EF member) has a saloon and he sells super great make up products from the US. THey are not expensive when you compare them to the products you find here and they are great quality. Maybe contact him?
