pesticide to kill mites

Hi,

My cupboard was infested with mites and I cleaned it thoroughly to get rid of them. But I would like to buy some kind of pesticide so that they don't come back again. Could you please recommend what I should buy and where? I live in Lausanne. Also, can you recommend where I can buy cheap tupperware boxes to store things like flour and sugar because I have been told that they tend to attract mites?

Re: pesticide to kill mites

A sprig of lavender or some Neem or Cedar oil does the trick and quite harmlessly to your lungs, the environment etc, rather than paying BigChem to do something Mother Nature's being handling effectively for ever.

Use containers for flour and sugars, rice and pasta etc. and make a note of their expiry date on the lid.

Most Migros and Coops (even the small ones) have a reasonable stock of seal-able plastic containers in all shapes and sizes. You can also buy plastic clips for clamping bags of foodstuffs shut for which you don't have a suitable container.

Re: pesticide to kill mites

If you decide to go for the chemicals, I suggest that you go to this drougerie that is just below the train station:

du Boulevard, Delisle Willy
av. William-Fraisse 1
1006 Lausanne
021 616 16 45

You will need someone is French speaking to go with you. If you can, try to trap some of the mites on some Scotch tape so they can see them.
