"Tauschtreff" (Swapping services)

The "Tauschring" idea seems to be catching on in Switzerland, too. The idea is to bring people together so that they can swap services. One person bakes a cake, another helps with the tax filing, someone paints a room or takes photos. I have never been, but I can imagine that this could also be a place to exchange English conversation for German conversation, etc.

In Zurich, one address is Treffpunkt Solino, Schanzengraben 15. More info at www.solino.ch/tauschtreff. They are having an opening party on May 10, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

There are also Tauschtreffs in Hottingen and Wipkingen and other Swiss towns, too, just google "Tauschtreff" or "tauschen" and the place.

exchange system in CH

Just as in the UK, exchange systems are sprouting up in CH. Basically work on an exchange for services on an hour per hour basis. I just love the idea, and have just joined a couple of my local ones. Whatever skills you have can be exchanged for others. Gardening help against English tuition. Help with decorating exchanged for babysitting. Whatever. Brilliant.
