booking holiday on net without credit card!

There is a holiday I would like to book on the net but it doesnt accept my Maestro card and I have no credit card. Is there any other way I could book it, for example... go to a bank or post-office and give them the cash to do it for me? Really annoying!

Re: booking holiday on net without credit card!

It depends which website you're trying to book it from. Do they have an office in Switzerland? Most of the UK sites are quite flexible when you call them. I've booked a holiday for Antalya by e-banking transfer. Try to call them, they should help.

Cheers,
Helen

Holiday company is UK based. What is an E-transfer? Will try ringing and seeing what they say.

By e-banking. which is basically the same as going to your bank and asking them to transfer the amount to the account of the travel agency, it's just quicker by e-banking. Good luck

Why not just get a credit card? It would make things easier on your holiday as well! As an example, this basic card from UBS is free if you make at least 24 transactions per year with it. An easy way of doing that is paying in Co-op with it (mind, they accept only MasterCard), or even just petrol at a filling station!

I understand that several people don't like the concept of credit cards, but you don't have to use it like one (to get credit, I mean), if you just pay off everything at the end of each month!

Are you sure? The Pronto ones do, as well as those at the Bahnhofs, but normal Co-ops have only recently started accepting credit cards (Mastercards only) because they came out with the Co-op Mastercard. Or have things changed since then? Or is it just this way in Basel-Land?

Re: booking holiday on net without credit card!

The Coop and Migros credit cards are both free and ideal for online shopping etc.

I am sending back my Fr50 per year card as I haven't used it for ages.

I have been shopping in Coop since I got here on Visa ... maybe you are getting confused with Migros ? Now they definitely don't take Visa in the shop .... but they do at their online shop for some reason ....

Definitely not confused, I guess it has to be something that varies from region to region then. I specially got my wife a UBS Mastercard so she could pay in Co-op with it! Anyway, it's good to hear that at least the Co-ops down in Bern are more forward thinking than the ones here
