Cheapest place in ZRH to get shoes re-soled?

I have a couple of pairs of new shoes that only came with that dratted and completely impractical leather sole... so am looking to get a rubber sole stuck to them asap in order to give them some longevity, and ensure that I don't fall arse over moob every time I go out.

I've been to a couple of places near me for a quote and have been told a minimum of 50CHF, ranging to 70 CHF to get this done, which to me seems a bit rich considering the small amount of work that goes into it.

If I have to pay that much then I will otherwise the shoes are effectively useless, but before I succumb to that, does anyone know of anywhere cheaper?

I ended up paying 56 in Zugerland...so I guess the answer to your question is no.

I don't know whether he's any cheaper but there is an excellent shoemender near to Bahnhof Enge in the Gotthardstr. Name of REH. We have always been very satisfied with his repairs etc. He's certainly a perfectionist! Glenda.

Go to one of those shoe repair places in the Zurich Bahnof. I forget what they are called -Mr. Fixit-QuickFix or something. Anyways they have the color red as their symbol. They can fix most things while you wait and they are suppose to be cheaper...Good Luck

When we are talking about sticking a rubber sole onto a shoe, the level of skill is not that important. Any half-decent cobbler can do it.

Mr Minit is the name I think you were after. Whether they are any good, I don't know.
You could also consider d.i.y, with those little metal doo-dads, that you can nail onto the toe and heel of your shoes.
Roughing the soles up with some course sandpaper helps as well.

Or, buy the rubber soles yourself and have a go at saving yourself 50.- chfs.
Pay for the convenience or take a little time out and see which is more worth your while.

They will charge half-decent price too. There is one in Oerlikon with a muppet on the display window hammering a shoe repeatedly.

I fully intend to pay, that was never in question, I just want to do it as cheaply as possible!

Had a very expensive experience with Mr. Minit. They are really expensive. I could recommend someone at Dietikon Bahnhof, although I don't suppose that will help you too much. Good luck with your search.. there are HUGE differences in this country.

I think mine were around 40 CH up here in Oerlikon, including the shoe shine!

Don't worry, I realised that. What I have also realised over the years is, if I can't do it myself, meaning, I'm either not adept, or, seeing the price of D.I.Y. basics, it's generally not worth it, unless I want to do it simply for the satisfaction of having done so.
All the same, in this instance, you may want to do it yourself, it seems the basic products are not very expensive, so why not get yourself some "schuhe leim" (glue esp for shoes), the rubber soles (can't find anywhere to buy them here on google for you, sorry, must be available though), a couple of screw clamps and Bob's your Uncle.
Mr Minit is great for the convenience, but not necessarily the cheapest, as per a Google translated K-Tipp article.

Re: Cheapest place in ZRH to get shoes re-soled?

I can recommend this place:

Antonio Nuzzi
Kanzleistrasse 86
8004 Zürich Kreis 4 (Langstrasse)

He's a very nice Italian guy. I had a pair of boots with the rubber heel so worn down that there were holes and he replaced them for about 25francs and it took a few days. Granted it was only the heel but I tried to go to Mr. Mint and they said it couldn't be done because of the hole and Antonio could do it.

You are such a chav Rich

As suggested either sand them a bit or install some segs. Or learn some balance. I managed to walk up and down the Uetliberg (ok from the train station to the restaurant) in the snow with leather soles last Sunday.

If you really want, I can take them back to the UK and try and get a Mr Mint to turn them round over the weekend...

eyebeebee, darling, the point is that I wish to protect my beloves footcoverers, and walking around in leather soles messes them up, as well as causes balance issues. Appreciate the offer of the shoes but i'll just get them done here, less hassle for you that way and it's not that much more.

Re: Cheapest place in ZRH to get shoes re-soled?

Granted that this is an old post, but I'd second Antonio as the guy to go to, at very very attractive prices. Just fixed my 4 year old trekking boots for only....:

Almost ended sending it to transa. Thanks!

To be honest I prefer leather soles. My feet don't really sweat but can be a nuisance in winter
