HP support in Switzerland??

Hi all,

Hoping someone would be able to help... I own a HP netbook which I bought in Australia, it's less than a year old and still under warranty. We moved to Switzerland a couple of months ago, and the little netbook has unfortunately died (it turns on when in safe mode sometimes, but most of the time it just doesn't work anymore).

I'm hoping to get a warranty repair (have confirmed with HP online warranty check and it's still valid). Problem is, I now have to arrange for some Swiss-based HP service centre to pick up my netbook to get it repaired - BUT all the call centre reps here only speak German and French (and my German/French isn't good enough to try to arrange this pick up with them...).
Tried the UK helpdesk, and they can't help because I live in Switzerland.

Has anyone had experience with HP (or other brands) warranty repairs in Switzerland? Another option of course is just to take it to a computer shop to get fixed but we got a quote of 200-250chf - which is almost the same price as a new netbook, so may not be worth it...
Any help would be much appreciated!

Cheers

Can't help with that but do you have any native friends that could arrange that for you ?

(that where I can say, see, it's nice to have native friends )

Yep, this is what I ended up doing in the end! Although it ended up being such a long winded process - my friend kept getting forwarded to a billion people to finally get through the technical helpdesk people.

Problem solved at least for now!

Glad it worked out for you. I have to get HP warranty repairs all the time due to my work - I have the fortune of using a business portal but when i need to phone them, i find they general speak english when asked.

Its 'technical' english (as they put it) - so you can tell them whats wrong and they'll be able to help you out. Just don't try too much small talk :-)

I would say 2/3 times i've called and i can't explain properly in french, they've found someone to help.

AFAIK, even the business-support is now in Bulgaria. Has been for some time.
They do speak English, but both English and German are foreign languages to these people.
They are friendly though, and try to be helpful.

How did the problem get solved? Was it a pickup arranged via the local post office or was their online help or over the phone assistance rather, enough to get your problem fixed?

Hi Sada

Sorry this is so late!
Yes, they arranged a pick up, fixed it and returned it. Was so easy in the end!

Re: HP support in Switzerland??

This is a late update, but might be useful for someone in the future.

There is no direct contact for HP via phone. You register a case and they provide you with a case # and a contact number.

You can then call them and they support you with next steps (including sending the PC for repair or mailing you a replacement part (for under warranty products).
