Re: ZH - Rubbish and recycling + Zurisacks (Zurich rubbish bags)

there are various places where i live where you can dump the stuff. they stick a sign out saying they'll collect it between 7.30 and 9.30. it's a minute walk from where i live, but they have them in various places (e.g. town square etc. etc.). not sure if how it works depends on your canton/gemeinde.

Hey there,

Does anyone know how am I supposed to get rid of large packages like the ones you get your posted stuff in? or even in general any of there kind of packages, e.g. the ones your furniture are wrapped in from IKea or ...

p.s. I dont mean the obvious way of tearing them down to fit in to a zurisack.

thanx a lot.
I've posted this link before - if you are within Zone 10 of the city, here are your collection dates for the various stuff like cardboard. You can just put the cardboard downstairs the night before of the collection day and they will magically disappear the next day

Just look for your street here for the various different types of stuff you plan to get rid of. And for the more forgetful ones, they even have an text function where you can use to set an alert!

http://www.stadt-zuerich.ch/ted/de/i...skalender.html

If you are outside Zone 10, your gemeinde website will have the details as to the collection dates, where the nearest recycling centres are, as well as its own recycling rules. You will get a calender posted to you at the beginning of every year. Tape it to the fridge or something.

Re: Kreisbüro Zurich

Have a look around here, but they haven't translated that part of the website yet, so it is in German only...

Recycling in general

Recycling calendar for 8001 - 8064

Here the link where you can arrange to be notified 24 hours in advance for the collection of your paper and carton material to be recycled (FREE SERVICE, by the way ;-)

- Black bin bags are usually used by businesses that have a special container for their business only.
- Or you can use them as bin liners for the white bags
- Or for fancy dress

Watch out when using black or white bin bags as bin liners. A friend used to do this, he would use a small white bag until full then tie it and place it in a Zurisack, with each Zurisack taking two or three full white bags.

This was all fine until the Zurisack split in the bin and the white sacks came out - in the end he was fined for not using a Zurisack for his rubbish.
...
Those 35l white Zurisacks are miraculous as they fit two full 35l black bin liners, thus making Zurisacks 50% cheaper. There was a time when I threw my trash directly into the white bags; now I know the above trick. Ha! One little victory against the crushing pain of existence. Had I known that ten years ago, it would have saved me at least CHF800 over the years
