I am a non-EU national. My prospective employer has applied for L-permit in Basel a little over 2 months ago.

The latest update I got was that the canton is overloaded with applications and first priority is given EU nationals, and that there is no ETA on the application.

Reading various posts I understand that the L permit wait time is anywhere between 6 - 24 weeks. Does anybody know of the current wait time?or have been waiting for visa approval?

No, the only people who can guide you are the authorities otherwise the timings you have are common.

As for priority to EU nationals being priopritised - as there is practically no effort at kantonal level nor national for EU nationsl this cannot be the case.

did you receive your permit? how long did it take??

Yes, I did get it eventually. It took 3+ months. Bern office asked for some more documentation, and a letter from the client with details about the job profile, etc.
