Shengen visa extension???

Ok, someone help me out, I am only allowed in the Schengen area for 90 days within 6 months. Those 90 days are almost up but I want to explore other countries in the Schengen area...anyone had any experience with maybe extending the 90 day thing for a different country? =S

Re: Shengen visa extension???

hi

it would be actually better not to extend it since that might create problems next time around.

may be you could exit and come back again.

If you still want to extend it, then go to your local office de population (or equivalent in german part) and they should have a section dealing with visa extensions.

Re: Shengen visa extension???

Why/how would it create problems the next time around? And for how long would I have to leave before coming back?

Re: Shengen visa extension???

A Schengen visa allows the holder to travel freely within the Schengen countries for a maximum stay of up to 90 days in a 6 month period.

So come back next year?

What kind of visa do you have? A tourist one? I've heard it's pretty much impossible to extend those without a good reason (e.g., you're in the hospital). But you could try at the immigration office.

well you would be categorized to group of people who over-stay or ask for extensions thus deviating from their initial commitment of leaving the country within authorized period of time.

It would be better to leave, and then come back. If you ask of extension, better have very good reasons to justify.

Re: Shengen visa extension???

Okay... Would it be possible to apply for a visa from a non-schengen EU country and use that to still travel within the EU, minus the shengen countries?

Re: Shengen visa extension???

The only non-schengen countries in the EU are the UK and Ireland. If you are entitled to a standard tourist visa in the UK, you can usually stay for 6 out of 12 months.
