Student B Permit Expiring...can I come back on a tourist visa

I am currently a student in Switzerland on a Student B Permit. My permit will expire in January 2012. As I have an American passport, I usually am able to come on a 90 day tourist visa. Can I come back after my visa expires in January on a tourist visa? Or do I have to wait a certain period of time before re-entering?

Thanks!!

Re: Student B Permit Expiring...can I come back on a tourist visa

I don't know what the official rules are, but I can speak from a similar experience.

I had an L permit when I lived here a few years ago. My L permit expired the day after my last day of work in Switzerland which is in the middle of December. However, I had my flat until the end of December and was going on holiday to Africa for a week before returning back to CH to pack all my belongs and then leave the country.

I de-registered in Zurich before my permit expired. Let for my holiday for a week. When I came back to Zurich, I gave them my US passport. The lady asked me how long I'm here for, and I said 3 days (as I'll pack everything back fly back to the states in 3 days). Then the lady scanned my passport and said, you lived here before? I said yes, and I'm back now to take everything with me to leave in 3 days. No more question asked.
