Not sure if anyone has had the experience to change the working B permit to a marriage B?

I currently have a B permit that is linked to my current employer. I plan to quit my job next January to stay home. So I need to switch the working B to a marriage B. My current working B will expire next June. My questions are, can I wait till next June to do the switch? For the switch, does anyone know what the process is?
