Hello,

I am new posting, but have read this forum lots of times and found it very helpful. I hope someone can advise me on my current situation. Here are the details:

1. I am a US citizen and have lived in Geneva for 6.5 years. The first year, I was here on a Student B Permit for grad school, and the next 5 renewals were because of my work here in Geneva.
2. This renewal I was eligible for permit C.
3. OCP-SEC has requested all sorts of documents, which I sent. They did not request them all at once, but months apart.
4 The last set of documents requested was the police extract (case judiciaire from Berne) and an exam for level A2 of French. I did all of this and mailed it in over a month ago.
5. My permit B expired in June, and I have beem waiting for 6 months for an appointment to receive my new, C permit. No one ever answers the phone at the OCP/SEC office, but I finally received a reply to an e-mail that told me that they are currently working on my dossier and to have patience.
6. In the meantime, I found out a few weeks ago that my position at work, where I have been for 5.5 years, will be eliminated on December 31st.
7. What will happen if I do not receive my Permit C before then, while my permit B is expired since June? is there anything I can do to improve this situation?
