| | | Changing Employee on Permit B: Vaud to non Swiss
Hello,
I have been a permit B holder for 6.5yrs since we moved here under a canton Vaud employees request. It's very likely that I move employee to a company that will not be Swiss, most likely German. Can I keep my permit B or will we have problems to stay where we are and get "kicked out" I concerned as a friend recently lost his job in Oz and had 8wks to quit the country, kinda tough.
Searched the threads but couldn't yet seem to find this scenario although I'm sure someone has some experience of it.
Thanks
BTW, I am an expat from UK

If the company has an office in CH, it does not matter who the ultimate owners are.

The new company would have no office in CH, in fact they would not even trade here at all, it's just that we'd prefer not to have to move the children to a 3rd school....... and as the position I'd have would be international, it wouldn't matter where I was based.

If you have a C you can live here regardless of working or not.
Living here means you have to pay taxes here & medical insurance, you also are supposed to be here more than 183 days.

I received a permit B when I arrived, it expired after 5yrs and was renewed accordingly, I assumed this was kinda normal ?
Yes we live here 365 and pay full taxes etc, we have nothing else in any other country (no assets)

Or does it mean that I should have a permit C anyway ?

I'm no expert (understatement of the year) but I think I read on here that you can apply for a C permit after five years. Maybe they don't offer it unless you ask?!?

I thought it was automatic for UK passport holders to get a C permit after 5 years, unless there is a good reason not to.
You have to have no unpaid debts, have been on social help or have commited any crimes. I got mine automatically after producing the doucmentation they asked for.
Have you changed canton?
If your new permit is for 5 years, then no questions will be asked untill renewal, do you still pay tax at source?

Guess I have to ask at the Commune office for an "Upgrade".....
Wonder if that is allowed part way through the validity of a permit B ? anyone ?

I don't mean to be "smart" but they are the one that can tell you 1, if you can get a C and why you didn't get it before and 2. if you can upgrade now or if you have to wait.
Actually, call don't even go there, call them.

Someone else mentioned the Federal Office of Migration, any thoughts on that one ?

OK to close the loop on this one. I went to various places and all pointed me back to the communes "control des habitants" I visited them and asked why I still had a PB and said that I had a PC, no I pointed out and when they checked they were as surprised as I was, they said it was a mistake and at the renewal point (5yrs) it should have been automatically renewed to C from B. I requested that it was changed and this they have done, took around 4wks but I had to pay again to the new C.....
