I did it through the post and the form was for a new B-Permit, 4 days later I got my C-Permit.

Hi Traubert,

I thought one of the requirments was a language exam. Did enclose this with your B-Permit application, or is not really a requirment?

Not for a C permit. I got mine earlier this year and it was not a requirement but then I am EU so maybe that makes a difference.

Is it the opposite to school grades - where a C is better than a B?

[It's been so long since my permit ran out (2002 I think) - and I never renewed it - I've even forgotten what I had, and what the differences are]

I got a renewal notice in the post. It was explicitly for a B permit. I filled it in and sent it back. 4 days later I received the C permit.
