Criminal Record and Debt Collection Check in US and UK for new job in CH

Hi,
I'm moving to CH to work for one of the banks.
In the welcome pack I'm asked to supply:

- Extract from the criminal records
- Extract from the register of the debt collection and bankruptcy office

I'm a US and UK citizen and I have lived in both countries over the last five years, I therefore need the checks for both US and UK.

Any help on how and where to obtain these records would be much appreciated!

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone in CH.

Regards,
Rollmops

You'd need to get a letter or document from the local police authorities saying whether or not you have a criminal record. The same would apply for the debt record, but I'm not sure where you'd apply for those. Maybe your town/city/county council in both countries?

If you're going to drive here in Switzerland, you'll also need letters from your car insurers stating whether or not you've made any claims too. This is so they can work out the premiums before they insure you.

In England, it's actually quite customary for an employer to get a criminal records check for new employees. Check the Home Office site here for the application procedure. I think the fee is about £25 when I had mine done last year...but if you're working with kids and vulnerable adults, you'll need an enhance check which costs twice as much.

Welcome to CH buddy,

For the UK checks, the police have outsourced criminal records checking to the following company:

http://www.disclosurescotland.co.uk/

These are the guys who I applied to, and they posted me the certificate within three days of making the application and sending over scans of the necessary docs.

Kash.
