Can the B permit be transferred from one canton to another with an change in the company ?

What does it say on your current B permit ?

By change in the company, do you mean that your company wants you to move to another branch in another canton? If so, I wouldn't think it would be a problem, but your company will still need to go through the motions to convince the authorities that they can't get a Swiss to do the job I expect.

If it's a move to another canton for another company position then that's more problematical. As B permits are normally tied to your job it can get very messy. I've seen one thread on the forum where authorities were insisting that the applicant resigned from their current job, but they were worried because it wasn't 100% certain that they would get the new job yet and they didn't want to take the chance of losing the B permit they already had.

Talk to your HR people and the cantonal authorities to make sure of what will be going on. If you lose your B permit and have no job then you may not be able to stay in Switzerland.

Best thing to do is ring up the Federal Migration Office in Bern and inquire about the status of your particular B Permit, specifically whether you are allowed to switch jobs without permission.

If your permit allows you to switch jobs without permission, then you are basically free to seek gainful employment in any Swiss Canton immediately (self-employment requires permission while still with a B, but not with a C).

As jrspet said, read your permit. Some Bs are tied to the company, some are unrestricted. Note that in some cases, even an unrestricted B requires prior approval for moves - it's ok to move ftom Zug to Zurich, for example, but if you go the other way around you (if non-EU) require advance approval from Zug.
