Hi,
Normally a tourist visa is of 90 days duration I dont know why it says 75 in your MILs case.
My parents are also on a 3 months validity and 90 days max. stay visa. I have confirmed from the embassy that they can stay a maximum of combined 90 days stay from the date of entry even if the validity expires before that. But your case is the other way around as the validity is longer than max. stay stated on your visa. you cannot stay more than the period stated on your visa.
I would suggest you go to the embassy with all relevant documents and also your bank statements, permits and salary record and ask for an extension stating the cause of tickets etc. and
make a good case out of it. I had written to the embassy here in Geneva asking for extension for my parents visa and they asked me to do this a week before the visa expires. They may not give it but atleast you can try

| Hello All,
My mother in law is here on a tourist visa (Indian origin)
In her visa its stated that its valid untill 31.10.07 and duration of stay 75 jour.
Now the problem is , we didnt know that there is duration of stay component in the Visa and overlooked it and thought that visa expiry date is 31st Oct and she can stay till that date.
Came to know about this duration of stay component today while discussing with a friend.
She has entered Switzerland on 2nd of August and her 75days is completeing on 15th October, but she has a return ticket for 23rd October.
We spoke to the Gemenide today and they said to let the immigration office know that she is leaving Switzerland on her date of travel ie on 23rd of October ( by when it will be more than 75 days of stay).
We will be talking to the immigration office tomorrow.
I dont think this is a very simple issue, as I guess many countries consider it as a great offence. We are not getting any tickets to India before 15th (only 4 days left) :-( and also now is a big festival time in India and tickets for this time are booked really early....
Has anybody faced such a situation before, any advise?
Thanks in advance
Regards
