Let me begin by saying I was married to a Swiss National while being a Marine Embassy Guard in Bern. Also, we do have three adult children. Does this help me with a permit/visa?

Do you want to move back to the USA?
Or do you want to move back to Switzerland?

Either way is easy:
If you are a US citizen, then your non-US wife can live with you in the USA
If you are married to a Swiss citizen, then you can live as the spouse in Switzerland

Note: Divorces and separation can change things.

However if you are not married to a Swiss person, then you must apply for residency like any other person. Having close family ties to Switzerland helps in your application. You will need to be able to prove the information you supply.
