I was hoping you can advise me on the process of when do you stop booking return air fares. I am South African, and have an L Permit, my B permit will be applied for in September this year. I am currently permanently employed in Zurich.

However when I arrived here in September last year I booked a dummy return date, which I have now changed to go home for the holidays in April. I had to obviously pay for this date change. So if I do go to SA, I will have to book another return ticket to come here. When can I stop doing this, so that I am allowed to book single fares.

There's no requirement to book a return ticket if you have the right to reside (B/L/C/whatever) in Switzerland.

You'll also want to know that one-way tickets cost a bomb.
