Was wondering if anyone here went through the experience of applying for facilitated naturalization and moving abroad before receiving the approval.

Basically this summer I will be eligible for facilitated naturalization (>3yrs married to CH citizen and >5 yrs resident in CH) but my wife and I are considering moving abroad next autumn (depending on career opportunities).

Is it possible to apply based on the above but then move abroad while the process is running or do we have to stay in CH until I receive the final approval?

I guess some things will be hard to manage like, for example, the surprise visit by Swiss Police to check you really live together?

Interesting question. With us it went the other way around. We applied whilst living abroad and moved back to Switzerland before the process was completed (IIRC the marriage conditions were a couple of years more of you lived abroad).

I think it should be possible, but you would be best advised to write and ask your case worker in Bern.

My wild guess: you'd have to do it through the swiss embassy once you moved in the new country.
