Invite girlfriend to Switzerland with permit L

Hi everyone,

I'm currently work in Geneva with permit L (valid until May 13th, 2012) and I would like to invite my girlfriend to join me to travel around Europe for 3 weeks. We both are Vietnamese.
So the question is:
- can I invite her with permit L?
- which documents I need to prepare?
- how long will it take for my girlfriend to have the VISA?

Thank you in advance!

Re: Invite girlfriend to Switzerland with permit L

Why dont your girlfriend apply for a Schengen visa at your home country?
Normally if you are sponsoring her expenses, then they require invitation letter, your bank statements, tanancy contract and maybe work contract. Shengen visa process should not last lore than 10 days...

Re: Invite girlfriend to Switzerland with permit L

I thought the same as warlock79

If the main purpose of her coming to Europe is travelling for 3 wks, it is easier n convenient to get a Schengen visa as it allows her to travel upto 90 days in Schengen area.

Austria
Belgium
Czech Republic
Denmark
Estonia
Finland
France
Germany
Greece
Hungary
Iceland
Italy
Latvia
Liechtenstein
Lithuania
Luxembourg
Malta
Netherlands
Norway
Poland
Portugal
Slovakia
Slovenia
Spain
Sweden
Switzerland.

These 26 countries are currently in this agreement which include Switzerland.

Of course there are few countries aren't with in Europe. i.e U.K. But even she or you are on Switzerland L permit, you N her still need a visa to travel to U.K
So, It won't make a big difference even she gets the L dependant permit for travelling but bit of paper works to get it based on your L Permit, as a girlfriend n under the circustance that your visa also expires in May. They(Swiss official) may doubt that her coming to Switzerland isn't for travelling as there is an alternative way, which I think better, to travel for 3 wks in Europe. But this is my opinion.

Re: Invite girlfriend to Switzerland with permit L

Thank you guys very much,
And yes, I just want her to get a Shengen visa only, but as it's almost impossible to have it from Vietnam without an invitation letter (they took me 8 months to have a visa, even my company base in Geneva and supplied all the required documents), and the posts I found about invite people to Switzerland only talk about permit B or C, then I confused if permit L, as I had, can invite people or not?
Now I need to go fast with all the paper
Thank you very much!
