2 "L" permits for non EU and your out?

Ok I have heard a number of stories regarding "L" permits and what the implications are:
i.e short term projects, maximum 1 year, usually renewed if requested the 2nd year, you are tied to the employer who hired you, have to have permission to move if you wish to do so...yada yada yada...

I have heard from a number of EU folks that they were not renewed after 2 years. Does that depend on the project? Hubby works for ETH, we are Non EU, are on our 2nd "L" and are concerned that we will not get renewed for the 3rd year.

Are there folks out there that are on their 3rd or 4th "L"?

Cheers
L

Does your husband have an unlimited contract with ETH (e.g., no end date)? If so, then this renewal cycle, you could get a B permit... or they could deny it. 24 months is the limit for an L permit: http://www.bfm.admin.ch/content/bfm/...willigung.html

I was on an 'L' permit for 3 years. Eu though.
There are rules, and then there are rules.

I have had a "L" permit now for two years, I asked for a "B" and was told, if you have had a "L" for 36months continuously they will change to "B" automatically.

Then again I've found here if you ask three different people the same question you get three different answers in the canton office.

I think if they are making money on you then you'll be ok.
