Hi guys, I know there are multiple threads for my questions here but I think it would be much easier for me to compile my queries in one thread and hope for helpful answers. I've tried searching on the internet for more information but nothing much came up.

I'm a non EU B permit holder, been living in Zurich and now about to move to Geneva.

My questions are:

1) Do I have to deregister myself from the local gemeinde? If so, when? (example: 2 weeks before actual moving date? any documents needed?)

2) Do I have to reapply for my B permit?

Kindly awaiting any advices relating to relocation.

Are you going to change your job?
If yes, then your employer might need to reapply.
If you are just changing cantons then you need to de register before you leave and then register in the new place within a week or so.

If you are on a non-EU B Permit that is "open" (not linked to your employer, e.g. project specific), then your employer doesn't apply, you do. All you have to do is deregister from Zurich and register in Geneva (you will be asked for documents when registering like an employment contract, etc...).

If your B Permit is "closed", your company will have to apply.

Hi all! Thanks for your help.

I've tried calling a couple of numbers (Immigration Office of Geneva & Immigration Office of Zurich) yesterday, while the office in Zurich was helpful with some information, the one in Geneva however was close.

So it seems that I will have to contact the immigration of Geneva to announce my arrival prior to deregistering myself with Zurich. I will explain more when I get the chance to them next week.

By the way, I have an open B permit.
