Re: ask for asylum in switzerland

If you can get a Schengen visa you are no longer in danger, you can save your money and stay where you are. Switzerland will not accept you as a refugee, you will be sent back again.

And do not expect an asylum giving country to help you avoid a criminal sentence in your home country. You will be sent back to Iran.

It rather depends on the reasons for seeking asylum. If it's a reason for which the Baltic issuer of your visa wouldn't grant asylum, then it's possilbe Switzerland will grant it.

No, you can only ask for asylum in the first country you arrive in, i.e. in this case Lithuania itself, not a foreign embassy located there.

No, you have to come to Switzerland. And they will send you back to Lithuania because you should apply for Asylum there.
Swiss asylum procedure, and more specifically Dublin II procedure

No, if you are refused, you can't ask somewhere else within the Schengen zone.

Re: ask for asylum in switzerland ( Iranian claimant )

YOU are not listening, as an asylum seeker you need to claim asylum in the first "safe haven" you can not choose which country you want to go to after that.

if you want to claim asylum in lithuania and then come to switzerland you are not in extreme need of asylum - you are an asylum tourist.

try greece i hear they are good with asylum seekers.

Getting a visa on your passport means you have successfully used the protection of your government ( Iran ). To subsequently claim protection from the international community ie asylum is patently absurd, an abuse of process or otherwise manifestly unfounded. Good luck.

Go to the UK.
You will be accepted with open arms, given a house to live in rent free, be shown how to claim thousands of £ in benefits, never work another day in your life, invite all your family including distant relatives and live happily ever after.

Schengen visa is not valid to the UK. If he found himself there anyway, Dublin rules require him to be expelled within 6 months, owing to a) Possession of a Schengen visa b) arrival from an EU safe haven.

Canada would be the best option. Free health insurance, home, and money every month. No need to work, the Canadians will take care of it for you.

All the stuff about easy life etc. is really incredibly witty, but maybe you're not aware that a handful of asylum seekers would love to stay in their home country, but would be in grave danger if they did.

This is not the case.

Two scenarios.

1. The OP is gay and was being blackmailed in Iran for it. He gets a visa and permission from the Iranian authorities to visit Lithuania. Then the blackmailer reveals the information to the Iranian police. The OP cannot now cannot return to Iran without risking the death sentence.

2. The OP was working in Lithunia, and in his freetime became involved with democracy supporting Iranian expats who campaign against the oppressive Iranian regime. If he returns to Iran, he risks torture and imprisonment.

In either case, he could now legitimately claim asylum.

Of whom this may be one. You ever met an asylum seeker, and talked with them. Or do you just read the daily wail?
