Help seeking from Indians in Switzerland holding work permit

Hi Friends,

After getting Approval from migration office in bern i applied for an entry VISA in mumbai and received the same today. now planning to travel on 10th from Delhi to Zurich. and i have few doubts/questions.

1. validity on VISA (Type D) from 02-02-12 to 26-04-12 only but my approval is for work permit and my employer said that first i will get L permit which wil be applicable for 11 month and then it will be renewed again.

2. Since no where it says that i am going for work there in Switzerland i think immigration officer in India will ask for return ticket or they know that VISA type D is Work permit?

Any advice/explanation in this regard will be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

1. as soon as you arrive here, you have to register at Kreisburo within one or two weeks ( corresponding to your place of residence) and then you will get an L permit for 12 months ( as your permit is approved for 12 months)

2. Please carry your work permit (which will show validity of 12 months) and also employment contract from your employer to show that you will work in CH for 12 months.

First of all thanks for your response.

1. as soon as you arrive here, you have to register at Kreisburo within one or two weeks ( corresponding to your place of residence) and then you will get an L permit for 12 months ( as your permit is approved for 12 months)

>> So Will this permit be stamped on passport or it will be just an ID card give to me?

2. Please carry your work permit (which will show validity of 12 months) and also employment contract from your employer to show that you will work in CH for 12 months.

>> Do u mean by the approval letter issued by migration office? both the documents (contract and approval letter) are in german so dont you think immigration department will not create any problem without return ticket?

You have a D visa which will allow your entry . The officer wont ask you anything.

also do you have a place to stay ? or the employer is giving you the same.

1. New ID

2. I have just travelled from India on a single way ticket and showed my residence permit ( which was in German) and everything was fine.

however, I am not sure if same applies to some one entering for the first time. here are some of pointers from my side:

I would suggest get a letter from your company in English stating that you will work in CH for XYZ months. Also carry your work permit.

Has any one from your company travelled previously using a single ticket. ask them their experiences. speak to your company's travel office.

May be on your visa, some where it could be mentioned that you are travelling for work. check this out with consulate or embassy that provided you the visa.

finally, dont panic...this is quite a normal situation.. if you are still not sure, request travel office to issue an open ended return ticket.

There is nothing mentioned like work. it just says type of visa is D.

I know, but it also contains a section which states what you need when you enter switzerland and also by when you need to register with authorities.

BTW, as far as I remember , at immigration you are not required to show the "ticket" , only boarding card is necessary.

Re: Help seeking from Indians in Switzerland holding work permit

It is the airline that will see a return ticket!

Every passenger that has no means to continue their journey and has no rights to take lawful residency the airline has to fly them back to home country or country of residence for free plus a USD 5000 penalty on top.

If you show them your working contract you should be fine.

The Indian Immigration Office don't care if you come back or not.
