Re: G permit-pros and cons

"Grenzgänger" (one who crosses borders) permits will effectively be phased out from Jan 1, 2007. I presume that you are an EU citizen, therefore this permit type should have no bearing on you. They are designed for those that live outside of Switzerland (usually near the border) but wish to work inside Switzerland.

The information (in German) is available here (admin.ch).

Re: G permit-pros and cons

Hi Mark,
thanks 4 your reply. Well, I am Polish so I am a new EU member and according to swiss law I will be treated as non EU member. I live in Ireland now so I will have to relocate. The company that wants to hire me have sent me some doc reg salary and I saw G permit there.
That is why I was asking about your opinion as I have heard or read somewhere that G permit is the worst one (but do not know why??).
Thanks for this link but unfortunatelly I do not know German

cheers,

adzia

Re: G permit-pros and cons

Since you will be living inside Switzerland (I presume) then the G permit will not and cannot apply to you. Most likely you'll be given an L permit. You should use the search function to locate other threads where we discuss permits in detail.

From what I remember I think you must live over the border in Germany/France/Italy for up to six months before you can even apply for such a permit.....

G permit-pros and cons

Just spoke to a friend (BRIT) who lives in Konstanz and is working in ZH. How do you apply for a G Permit? If you are paying tax in CH and employed here, must you then pay tax in Germany. She appeared to be a littlke confused as to what she cannot and can do and where she can turn too. Any information would be helpful.

You should be paying taxes where you are registered to live not where you work.
