Well, as the subject says I'm leaving shortly but MAY be back at some point down the line. Obviously if I come back as unemployed here, I'd want to claim dole.

I've already quit my job and apartment and am staying with a mate until I get all the various admin matters and such sorted out. Today I went to what would have been my local RAV office but they said that I didn't need to register before I left and could just come back in the future (as long as I didn't stay out of CH for more than 3 months) and sign straight on the RAV when I came back.

True or False? I'd heard about the 3 month thing but I would guess that I'd need to do something before leaving here to ensure that my RAV-payout countdown started: I can't claim money for a couple of months anyway because I quit my job. Normally you register ASAP and then wait for the prescribed amount of time before your payouts start.

The guy was very friendly and helpful but I've been given wrong information by officials too many times here to take things at face value. Anyone 'in the know' who can clarify things?

Not in the know from the inside Gav, but the RAV are only the go between as I think I have said before. The ones who makes the call are the Kasse( paying out groups) who follow the law. So you would need to check what the law says and from memory it states that during the waiting period which is a maximum of 60 day ie 2.99 months you MUST be ACTIVELY seeking employment. So going on a world cruise for the interim is not likely to get you anywhere. I also recall that you need to be registered with the local town hall as unemployed before the clock starts...

Ok - that's important. I'm going to the local community office tomorrow to deregister from my address so I'll be sure to tell them that I'm now unemployed.

Do I just hold onto my permit or do I need to give it to them in the interim?
