My family will move from BS to BL in a couple of weeks time and I wonder if anyone can advise me about any pitfalls etc..

We found the wegzug von Basel form on the BS website and have filled it out declaring our intention to leave BS and have found the corresponding form on the BL website and have filled that out and printed it out, do we need to do anything more or should everything work automatically from here?

Will we need to go to Spieglegasse in person and the same with Liestal or will this suffice?

As far as the taxes go I called the Tax dept in town and asked what to do, my German isn't perfect but from my understanding of what the woman told me we should pay our taxes as normal by 31st May to BS and then pay our 2008 taxes to BL (when will the bill for 2008 in BL arrive, is it Sept 2008??). have I understood correctly??

The process varies a little between areas but personal visits = less chance of messing up.

Don't forget to update driving license details, change car plates, etc.
