Mistael has no particular reputation at present
New EU countries, people with high experience and jobs.

This is a long shot... I am a citizen of Macedonia (FYROM) from naturalisation. I have never even been there. I am also a US citizen. I have been reading that they will possibly join the EU by 2010-2012 with Croatia. Can the new EU citizens move to Switzerland, especially if they have a career and are highly educated? I have a degree in Linguistics/technical communication with computer experience. My wifes sisters live in Switzerland also, does this help?

Re: New EU countries, people with high experience and jobs.

First of all that's a big if by 2012. Even when/if they join it is likely that Switzerland would have to vote about whether or not the new countries would then be allowed access to the labour market. You have to bear in mind that these two nations are not at the top of the favourites list here unfortunately...

So unless you can find someone willing to employ you on your US passport, in other words your skills are so highly sought after that an employer can't find anyone with your skills in the EU - you won't be coming here for quite a long time. Sorry - I wish I had better news.

*Mark, I am not countering anything you are trying to say.

Mistael, my advice is to KEEP TRYING! Keep your head cool and when the bureacratic stuff gets frustrating and long and tedious, just keep doing whatever they ask of you. If you are persistent and you prove that your motivation to be here is so great, they CANNOT refuse you! It is only a matter of time. Think of it as a waiting game.

The Swiss like seeing people who work follow rules without complaining, and they love the diligent and hardworking!

P.S. I submitted my entire file (everything they asked of me) for naturalization in September and haven't heard a word. For everyone who knows CH (and who knows the complaints on this forum) this country is just very slow and tedious when it comes to bureacracy!

I assume you had a confirmation form Bern that they received your application - this explains that the process takes up to 2 years....

I suggest that if more than 4 weeks have passed and you have had no confrimation (I got one after 3 weeks, as I recall), then you would be well advised to write and ask them if they got it...
