After 4-5 months of working in Switzerland I am certain I will lose my job in the next couple of months. They are cutting down on personnel in the department where I work from 15 to 10 people and i have recieved many hints on that I should be prepared for the worst...

It feels very bad since I just moved here for this job. The main thing that I´m worried about right now is:

1) I have a B permit for 5 years that my employer helped me to get. Will I lose this permit when I have to quit this job? I was thinking about trying my luck in the German part of Switzerland, but it´s only possible if I have a permit..


2) Will I get any unemployement benefits while I´m looking for other jobs? Does anyone know more about the unemployment benefits rules and procedures in Switzerland and in particular in Geneva?

More details. Are you Swedish? If yes then you are in EU so I can't see anyone chucking you out.

I think for unemployment benefit you need to have been working one year. That is what I gathered from this forum if my memory serves me right.
