Minimum marriage time for spouse work permit?

Hello All,

I'm a PhD student studying/working (with salary) at EPFL on a B permit seeking your advice. My girlfriend (non-EU) and I (non-EU) are planning to get married in the following couple of years; I was wondering if there is any minimum marriage duration for her to get a B work permit. I couldn't find any information elsewhere regarding such a duration, but I wouldn't be surprised if they turned the application down because we're not married for 12 months etc. It would be nice if we knew if there is such a duration so that we can plan the marriage dates accordingly beforehand.

Thank you all in advance and have a wonderful day.

No. There is no minimum time you need to be married. You can even apply for her permit the day you get married. The amount of time you are married is not a reason to reject the permit.

She will get the same permit that you have so if you have an L she'll get an L, you have a B she'll get a B. There's no duration involved. Her permit will probably say without work on it initially, but if she finds a job it shouldn't be a problem to get the work part added.
