Getting a tax return?

Hiya,

I am probably supposed to pay tax this year. I was told by people who should know, that I am supposed to wait until I get sent the tax return, then I can print out the electronic version and post it back to them. But I've been waiting and haven't yet been sent anything by the state (they definitely know my address).

Now what do I do? Should I just wait longer, or do I need to call them and ask where it got to?

Re: Getting a tax return?

You normally only get to complete a tax return if you earn more than 120,000 Francs per calander year 1 Jan - 31 Dec. That is if you are on a B permit and paying tax at source.

EDIT:- this is normally sent our early Jan from your Geminde

Re: Getting a tax return?

They'll get to you when good and ready. We arrived in CH in Sept 2005 and just this week I received my tax return for 2005. Despite the fact I already did one for 2006 and 2007.
Just leave them to it.

Re: Getting a tax return?

Just leave it to them AND save some money. Once they want the money they want it pretty quickly.
I just paid 8000 chf more than I calculated for 2005 / 2006 and I had 30 days to pay it. This came at the same time as the Bundessteuer 2007, final Gemeinde / Kanton tax 2006 and some money I was still paying for 2007. Plus I am saving for 2008 as it all has to be paid by October 31st. It never seems to stop once it has started !!
