Residence permit/ When considered complete?

Dear all,

I want first of all to thank you for this amazing forum. As I am moving soon (hopefully) to Switzerland it helped me a lot for clarifying things.

I have a question which bothers me and I am a bit stressed with it.

I am EU national, I have employment contract to start 1st of March, already found a room to stay for 5 months - but still I am in another country for my work so I do all the papers, with the help of my company, from distance.

On Monday, I will travel to Lausanne, to provide all the papers for the communal registration (certificates/work permit applications/photos/fees etc).

The contract of my company states that I can start working only when I have the residence permit in place.

Also they told me that for the phychical permit it might need 4 weeks until it's ready, but this is not considered as important and I can start working as soon as my registration is complete irrelevant of the physical permit (day of registration is considered).

My question is that: On Monday , if I give all the papers , they check them in the commune office, they are ok, my registration is considered complete from that day?

They also asked me to provide them with the attestation d'arrivée , as soon as I register. Can I request it then the same day?

I am stressed, because I cannot visit many times Lausanne during February and I wonder whether the registration can be completed with my visit on Monday.

Thank you a lot for the clarification!

Re: Residence permit/ When considered complete?

I started working in Switzerland and only applied for my permit that first day. As a EU citizen (NL) that was not an issue. It may be different depending on what EU country you are from?

Re: Residence permit/ When considered complete?

Thank you for the reply!

I am from Greece.

I am worried, because my contract with the employer says it is considered valid as long as 1st of March I will have work permit (this is already done by my employer) and residence permit.

I asked the immigration office, they told me the physical permit is not important, and I am considered ready to work the day the registration is completed.

But I don't know if the day of registration is the day I give my papers (Monday) or it takes 3-4 weeks (and then another 3-4 weeks for the booklet).

Yes!

As an EU, just go and apply at the office…. then you are good to work straight away!

Edit: In my experience, you register (that's that done, you're good to work) and the physical permit will arrive 1-2 weeks later.

Perfect,

That's good news, because I won't be able to travel back many times till end of February

Also, have you ever asked for this "attestation d'arrivée" ?

After registering, can I ask for it the same day?
