In most cases, asylum seekers are not allowed to work. What kind of residence permit do you have? You do at least have that, right?

Are you legally in Switzerland? Isn´t an asylum status only valid in the country where you received this? I.e. Italy

thanks dear for replying..., I don't have a permit. I am new here in Basel Swiss, yeah dear your right that asylum seekers are not allowed to work in swiss but work permit can make it easy. I went to the job agency they told me that if I had a work permit then they could give me a job. Just got sad, don't know what to do....... to have a work permit. please help

Hello Reogner thanks for replying. Yeah get papers in Italy, according to law I can just stay 3 months with no work which means that if I want to have a work then I must have a work permit or permission. Yeah at the movement I am a kind of legal. But I want to have a job according to the law of swiss, I really need job to have a life. please help

Re: how to get a work permit (any kind)

Step one - Get a residence permit. That's your permission to live here. If you don't have permission to live here then you certainly don't have permission to work here.

In order for you to get a work permit here, an employer must prove to the authorities they could not find a Swiss, EU, or non-EU that is already here with a valid permit for the job. In general that means you need to have some sort of special skills and qualifications, perhaps even fluency in a local language. Do you speak any of Switzerland's official languages? That would probably help you. The non-EU hiring process is time-consuming and expensive for companies, but if you've got the skills they want then they will do it.

I am sorry you're in this difficult spot. Many asylum seekers are willing to work and don't plan or want to rely entirely on the system. Unfortunately it's not set up for you to just walk in and get a job.

You can pretty much forget about that as an asylum seeker with Italian papers.

I take it that it is as roegener says and that the OP had better return to Italy? Can he at least be here for a visit and to job hunt or is he technically not here legally? I really don't know much about asylum rules, so genuine question.

Re: how to get a work permit (any kind)

Depends on what you mean by Italian papers. Asylum permit, shouldn't be out of the country.

http://www.exiles10.org/IMG/pdf/asylum_italy.pdf
Page 4

Italian residence permit, can visit Switzerland for up to 3 months, but can't work.

Hassan298, please note that even if you have an Italian residence permit, you would still fall under the non-EU hiring rules of Switzerland when it comes to job hunting. Unless you're highly qualified/skilled you're not going to be able to get a job here at all.

https://www.bfm.admin.ch/bfm/en/home...zulassung.html

Just a cook, sorry, no employer would even make the attempt to get a permit for you. It's simply not worth the time and money to try.

It's so difficult to get a work permit if you're not from an EU country (and not even all EU countries)!
I find it hard to believe that an asylum seeker coming from/via Italy (I mean with Italian papers), even though living here legally, would get this permit any time soon...that's the sad truth.
He's allowed to live here for 3 months without problems, but not allowed to work.

Agree. I dare say a work permit is and will continue to be out of a question, and I'm not even sure a permanent residence permit is an option - I highly doubt it. Needless to say that even in case a residence permit will be granted, without a job, it's impossible to afford to live here permanently.

Hassan, I know it's not what you want to hear and I feel sorry that you are in this situation; but you need to consider alternatives very fast - Switzerland is not an option.

Also second Medea's very important point: do you have an Italian residence permit or are you on asylum status in Italy? If the latter, you can't just leave Italy. Take this very seriously and get it sorted immediately, as it could result in massive trouble for you if you do not.

Re: how to get a work permit (any kind)

Thanks to all, thanks for your all kind advices. Yeah I have Italian Asylum papers, I am allowed everywhere to stay but just 3 months, and for work I have to ask for special permission that is called permit to work or work permit, in Italy i tried so much to find a good job but did not work out, In Rome I found some jobs but it was just about some Euros, and another places they just wanted to have sex with me so I left Italy. And I choose Switzerland because I have a Swiss friend, but actually she don't know how to help me out and stuff, I have very hard and anxious time just don't know what to do?.....
I left my God dam country because of circumstances, to find a better and good life I asked asylum in Italy, they gave me papers, which is not valuable, which means that it gone worse,
I tried nearly 2 years in Italy to settle my life there, but 20 and 30 Euros with tex can't give a good life.
My brain stopped working because of so much thinking, All day I am looking for job like baggers, But no response,
thanks to all your kind thoughts and advices. but still need advices.

You are here illegally, you are not allowed to leave Italy!

Also, do you have a visa in your Pakistani passport to enter Switzerland?

I fear that St2lemans is right.

Contact http://www.sans-papiers.ch/index.php?id=105

or a clergyman willing to help you (normally they do),

and try to find a way to get back to Italy legally, asap.

You have all my sympathy with regards to the terrible circumstances one can encouter in both, the homecountry one is fleeing from, and the destination, too, in terms of political and economic difficulties a person could be forced to face.

Rules sometimes do exist also for being broken, in some circumstances; but don't overdo it, especially if there might be still other (i.e. legal) ways. There are organizations that help asylum seekers, refugees and generally persons in need. Breaking the law that should enhance organizations to help you is probably not really a good strategy.

Re: how to get a work permit (any kind)

Again, without knowing exactly what you mean by Italian papers we can't help much. If you have an asylum seeker's permit from Italy while awaiting a decision on your asylum status then you are not allowed out of the country. If you've been granted asylum and have an Italian residence permit then you might be able to look for work in another EU country, but that won't apply here in Switzerland as Switzerland is not part of the EU.

Sadly, your choices are: return to Italy and seek work there, try another EU country and seek work there if possible or return to Pakistan.

Hey there thanks for replying. Mr. st2lermans and Mr. Bucentaure I wrote in simple english that i got Italian Asylum papers, I have permit to stay in all countries( just for 3 months) I have ID card, I am 100 percent legal here. but just for 3 months I will be legal. So I don't need to ask anybody to stay or go and something. And about Swiss I clarified myself and SWISS BORDER AGENCY told me that I can just stay and can't work and if I want to work than I must have a work permission or work permit,....

Re: how to get a work permit (any kind)

Looks like you chose the wrong country to seek asylum in, Germany or Switzerland would have probably been better choices. You best head back to Italy and try and make another go of it there.

Perhaps if more stories like this were known by prospective asylum seekers, then less of the them would throw their lives away trying to reach the Italian coast.

Dear Medea Fleecestealer thanks for replying. I got everything for Italy, ID card, temporary passport (3 years asylum passport), and permission to stay in all countries. My all means that I just got a status of asylum seeker, and I have a right or to go everywhere, I don't know what to do......

https://www.bfm.admin.ch/bfm/en/home...zulassung.html
Even if you weren't on an asylum permit, you're still from a non-EU country. Any potential employer has to prove to the authorities they cannot find a Swiss, EU, or non-EU that is already in Switzerland with a valid permit to do the job. In that sense, you're on the same level as Americans or Canadians - employers have to prove they've got special skills too.

Although it's hard, you have to think of it from an employer's perspective. What skills do you have that are unique and set you apart, that make it worth the company's time and money to request a permit for you? What national languages do you speak (German, French, Italian)?

Unfortunately being willing to do "any job" is not good enough. There are plenty of EU nationals here that are willing to do basic tasks like cleaning or cooking, and they don't need the employer to sponsor the permit.

Don't risk your asylum seeker status! You're going to be sent back where you first got it anyway. The permission is to visit and stay as a tourist..(I have recently seen a Swedish documentary on this theme)
My opinion is to give another chance to Italy, and once you've somehow fixed your situation you could move to other parts of Europe.
