Re: UK Visa

Does anyone know if it would be possible to apply for the UK Visa without handing in the original passport. I believe in some cases it could take 2 weeks for processing and if the need to travel arises within this time it could be a problem.

Re: UK Visa

It isn't. The passport is sent on to Paris, where they stick the visa in it.

Re: UK Visa

This is what they sent after confirmation of appointment:

You must now take your printed application, appointment confirmation, supporting documents and the appropriate fee (unless paid online...) to the address shown below on the date and time of your appointment.

OK, then I opened link related - supporting documents, but still it is not clear regarding pictures.

https://www.gov.uk/biometric-residen.../personal-data

Your personal data.

Youíll be asked to provide your biometric information as part of your visa or immigration application.
Youíll need to:
  • have a digital photo taken of your face
  • put your fingers on a glass screen to be scanned
  • give your signature
The process takes less than 5 minutes and doesnít involve any ink or mess.
If you donít have any fingers or hands youíll only need to have a digital photo taken of your face. It will be noted on your records that youíre physically unable to provide fingerprints.

Where to provide your biometric information.

You need to give your biometrics at a visa application centre if youíre applying from outside the UK.

Re: UK Visa

Hi there... you can either take pictures with you or have them taken at the visa center. Usually they are really picky with pictures and there is a high probability that they'll tell you "ahh those do not meet the specifications, but don't worry we can do it for you". So you can very well just have them taken there!
Just make sure you have all documentation with you, including your swiss permit (a copy and the original) along with all other visa requirements: letters of invitation, employment letters, bank statements, etc...

Re: UK Visa

Yeah, I read that paper before and already made photos in special photo studio in order to avoid any misunderstanding with photo-machine at the station

By the way, the service in studio is very expensive - 38 chf for 4 photos.

I will inform you how the things will go at the visa center.

Re: UK Visa

So, you need a photo with you, which they will stick to your application and then they will do another one, when you will provide your fingerprints.

They don't know which of them will be used for visa, but from previous experience in my country, I suppose - first one.

That's all
