UK Visa

Hi all,

I can't find a recent answer to my question anywhere.

I want to apply for a visitor's visa to the UK, I am trying to find out if the application centre in Zurich is still open and if I can go there once I have done the application online or if I will have to travel to Geneva?

A friend mentioned that the Zurich office is no longer open and I do not want to got to Geneva, I would rather meet my UK friend somewhere in France for a visit if that is the case.

The Teleperformance website is USELESS! No contact details whatsoever without the visa number you get after completing your application.

I do not want to spend the £88 to just find out if I have to travel to Geneva to get an appointment. So far I have not been able to get the information any other way on the internet.

Anyone have any recent experience that could help? I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you.

Re: UK Visa

A friend if ours got hers in Bern which would be better for you than Geneva. Edit: apparently Bern no longer deals with visa applications and she says you have to go to Geneva or Zurich.

No idea about Zurich though.

I did thank you, the TP Contact site is of no help. I was hoping someone had some info before I needed to give my credit card to pay the £1.37 per minute call centre. Seems I have no choice.

Why are they making it so bloody difficult?

Re: UK Visa

The Zurich address is still listed here and the site seems to be pretty much up to date.

That is what I am thinking too, and all I can see in their 'news' section is that the office in Geneva moved to a new address in Geneva.

That's exactly the impression I got. Surely if the Zurich office no longer exists it wouldn't be mentioned on there at all.

There's no longer a consulate in Geneva. In fact all the consulates are now closed and only the embassy at Bern is left.

It's all done via Teleperformance nowadays by the looks of it. They have centres in both Zurich and Geneva so you should be able to do it at Zurich once you've done the application online.

Nobody mentioned the consulate in Geneva. The OP was aware that Teleperformance deals with them all nowadays abd was referring yo their office in Geneva not the consulate.
You could also get them from the embassy in Bern until quite recently but they've stopped issuing them now.

Can I add some questions:

Should I take my picture for UK visa myself or it will be taken in Zurich application center?

Do I need medical insurance if apply for 2 years business visa?

Thank you in advance.

Hi,

I do not know about the health insurance but you very definitely have to take your own photo with. You can do them at the photo booths in the main station. The Visa app centre in Zurich is purely there to collect the applications and the supporting documents. They do not have photo or copier machines. Neither do they check your supporting documents to see if you have everything. They just take what you have and send it off. So if you do not have all the documents they ask for, you don't get a chance to rectify it once you are in the 'interview'

So make sure you have everything they request on the form you got when you made your appointment.

It is a quick process and I had my Passport and Visa back within a week.

Re: UK Visa

I recently applied for my OH visa and you have to go submit your application to the Zurich center.

The first step is to apply online through the UK Immigrations website.

You will then be called for an appointment/interview (you can choose the closest location - which is Zurich) where you need to submit all the accurate documents asked on the UK Immigrations website.

The Zurich center are not responsible for any missing document nor will they check if you have completed your application successfully.

They are only the forwarding medium and you will receive your passport (with or without) the visa stamp directly to your home address via DHL.

Three years ago I brought my own pictures, but there were also folks who had their photos taken there. Last year a friend brought her own, yet they insisted that her pics are done at the visa center when she submitted the documents.

Really? So there is not any need to take pictures before?

It is an issue, because I am not sure that photo machines in the station can provide photos with special UK visa requirements

I would assume the exact requirements are listed on the website of whichever company runs the show these days.

Re: UK Visa

I got my visa about 3 weeks ago, so unless things changed in that period, you VERY DEFINITELY have to take an official passport photo with you. They WILL send you away if you do not have one. The photo machines at HB is specifically based on UK requirements. It says so on the machine in the ticket office at HB.

just follow the instructions on the document you receive(via email) when making your appointment after you completed to Visa application online. Easy peasy.
